Hardware and Embedded

Connected Hardware and the Software Behind It

We design and build connected devices from the circuit board and firmware through the device software and the cloud services that run the fleet. The same team carries a product from the bench to the field, and hands it off in a state a contract manufacturer can build from.

Where Hardware Projects Usually Get Difficult

The first prototype is rarely the hard part. The difficulty shows up when the device has to work reliably in the field and keep working after it ships.

The Firmware Is the Product

Calibration, self-test routines, power management, and field updates decide whether a device works in a customer's hands. They are usually the last things a software-first team plans for.

Devices Are Hard to Keep Alive After Install

Once units are in the field, the work becomes onboarding, identity, telemetry, and updates that cannot brick a device. Most products are designed without that operating layer.

Hardware and Software Teams Rarely Overlap

A board vendor, a firmware contractor, and a cloud team each own a piece, and the integration gaps between them become the schedule risk nobody owns.

What We Do

We can take the whole product or one layer of it. Either way the board, the firmware, the device software, and the cloud are designed to work together.

PCB Design and Layout

We do schematic capture and board layout, rigid and flex, for sensor, power, and microcontroller circuits. Revisions come from what the bench and the firmware tell us, on one schedule.

Microcontroller Firmware

We write production firmware, most recently on Arduino and Renesas parts, covering sensor integration, calibration and self-test routines, low-power operation, and the protocols the device speaks to the outside world.

Embedded Linux and Fleet Operations

We build custom Yocto device images for Raspberry Pi and other single-board computers, with A/B over-the-air updates and automatic rollback, secure onboarding, and the tooling that keeps a fleet healthy after launch.

Device Apps

We build Android TV and Android device apps in Kotlin and kiosk software on Linux, along with the camera, card-reader, display, and USB peripheral integration around them.

The Cloud Around the Device

We build the control plane: device identity, telemetry, command queues, update servers, and the operator portals and mobile apps that people actually use to run the fleet.

Manufacturing Handoff

Every build is designed to leave our bench. We hand off schematics and layout files, BOM and Gerbers, assembly and test notes, hardware-in-the-loop test rigs, and flash and provisioning scripts that a contract manufacturer can build from.

Devices We Have Built

These are devices in the field today. In each case we handled the board or firmware, the cloud services, and the update path that keeps the units running after installation.

Sensor-equipped safety ladder

Otto Tech Systems

Otto Tech Systems

We designed the PCB for Otto's connected safety ladder, including the flex circuit sensor feet, and wrote the production firmware on an Arduino Portenta C33: sensor calibration and self-test routines, alarm handling, cloud event upload, and power management. A bench test rig checks every release before it ships.

Volt IoT

Volt IoT

Volt IoT is a Yocto-based Linux device OS with a Node supervisor, A/B over-the-air updates with automatic rollback, zero-touch and claim-by-MAC onboarding, and a multi-tenant control-plane API and operator portal. We built it and we run it.

Kwik IQ by Luxor Workspaces

We wrote the kiosk software for Kwik IQ's workspace devices, which run on Volt IoT, along with the USB peripheral integration, the AWS back end, and the remote updates that let units in the field receive fixes without a site visit.

Hospitality set-top device

For a hospitality set-top device we built the Kotlin Android TV app, a NestJS control plane on AWS, device identity based on MAC and serial correlation, and the release-signing and update flow that keeps installed units reporting.

Brightbox

Brightbox

SunAlgo's team led engineering at Brightbox, building the on-device services, operator portals, and cloud API, automating the OS image builds, and adding Linux support for encrypting card readers across a fleet that ran on everything from 2G to gigabit links.

Working through an agency?

We take this work white-label

Agencies and development shops bring us the hardware stream they cannot staff. We deliver it under their brand, on written terms that cover non-solicitation, IP assignment, and hand-off.
